​I began experimenting with soft pastels during the pandemic lockdown of 2020, remembering how I had enjoyed their tactile nature and vibrant colours when I was at school.  I am self taught, although my work has been inspired by professional artists Rebecca de Mendonca and Emma Colbert. 


My paintings are photo realistic but I strive to add an extra vibrancy and character, particularly to my pet portraits and wildlife paintings, both of which have been popular subjects in my commission work.  Recently, I have been exploring seascapes and landscapes.
 
When I’m not in my garden studio, I run pastel workshops, helping small groups of people discover the versatility of the medium and create their own works of art.  As a retired Primary School teacher, I enjoy being able to combine my teaching skills and love of art to introduce others to the joy of working with soft pastels.
