I became fascinated with photography at an early age. Looking through the glass plates and early coloured images, produced by my grandfather in the 1920s, and then watching my father develop and print in his darkroom, in the 1960s, gave me a deep sense of wonder. How can light and movement and imagination combine to make these wonderful images? And so the passion for photography was born.
I bought my first camera in Woolworths when I was 7 years old and have never looked back!
I love to capture that unique moment in time, where the light was “just right” or the colours were picked out just perfectly against the setting winter sun. I love to combine images to make a unique and imagined world where the beauty of the natural and man made environment can be showcased in all its glory.
I am inspired by my environment in North Norfolk, but equally enjoy the city scape when I am in London, looking at the street scene, the juxtaposition of buildings, old and new, and the myriad of faces all moving purposely to their destinations.
I love to experiment merging images of the natural world with images of people, and the human experience, creating a new expression of being at one with the earth. Each new image has its own unique meaning for me, although I love for others to find their own meanings within the image.
I am mostly self taught – though probably inspired and guided by my ancestors would be truer to say! I am continuing to learn and develop and grow, discovering new ways of capturing or making the pictures I imagine. I hope you like my work. I certainly enjoy making it!
